Environment
For over 13 years, FLORIS has been assuming ecological responsibility by incorporating many environmental aspects into our services and our company. We ensure responsible treatment of our environment and its resources.
With these measures, FLORIS makes a significant contribution to protecting our environment:
- The complete compensation of our CO² emissions through KlimaInvest. FLORIS is 100% climate neutral. You can find further information here.
- The purchase of 100% green electricity.
- The use of fair, regional and seasonal products. We prefer to use products from natural, regional and seasonal cultivation and thus not only support environmental protection, but also local farmers.
- Avoiding food waste. With the help of food donations, our FLORIS leftover box and our composting plant, we avoid food waste or reuse it sustainably. You can find more information about food donations here and more information about our composting plant here.
- The use of sustainable decoration and sustainable consumables. Decoration is often associated with a lot of waste. Since 2019, we have done without fresh cut flowers - we decorate our events sustainably with potted plants and reusable decorations. We also use other consumables sustainably. - Sustainable office management. Sustainability begins in our everyday work. With individual concepts for our offices and production facilities, we save resources and practice environmental protection directly in the workplace.
- The promotion of biodiversity. Through a particularly green company site with flower meadows for bees or a bee hotel, FLORIS contributes directly to the promotion and preservation of biodiversity. FLORIS Catering is committed to the "Berlin Strategy for Biological Diversity".
We can always become a little more sustainable! Environmental goals and visions at FLORIS:
- Produce almost no food waste. This is a big task for a catering company, but by logging and analyzing food waste, we want to optimize the costing of our products as much as possible so that only the smallest amount of waste is generated, which can then be recycled through food donations or reuse.
- To be 100% sustainable on the road. FLORIS is already compensating for its CO² emissions, but in the long term we don't want to generate them at all. By purchasing electric vehicles, our delivery routes will also become particularly sustainable.
- An even greener FLORIS site. We want to continuously optimize our company site and make it even greener. In the long term, we want to create more raised beds to obtain fresh produce from the garden, a rainwater recovery system to reuse our water and solar cells to generate our own electricity. - Perfect waste management at our events. We want to be able to separate waste perfectly, not only in our offices, but also at events – no matter where we are and no matter how stressful an event may be.
Company
FLORIS assumes social responsibility because we understand that the company cannot exist without its employees. Here we have a responsibility to act respectfully and as a role model. We ensure that human resources are treated responsibly.
With these measures, FLORIS makes a significant contribution to the promotion and development of our society:
- FLORIS is a trainer for the professions of event manager and cook. We also support the preservation of our profession and the training of the next generation through school internships and the Girl's Day and Boy's Day projects.
- Recognize and promote diversity issues. FLORIS attaches great importance to a compensation policy that provides equal opportunities, equal pay for men and women, and supporting the needs of every employee. Everyone should feel comfortable and recognized with us - regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin or religion.
- Develop employees personally and professionally. Through regular development discussions and potential analyses, we continually develop new goals for our employees. New areas of responsibility as well as internal and external training courses serve to ensure continuous further training - both personally and professionally.
- Involve employees in decision-making processes. Through regular voting, topic meetings and working groups, our employees are directly involved in decision-making processes and are thus involved in the design and direction of the company and its services. We rely on the ideas and participation of our employees!
- Strengthening cohesion through employee events. Through regular "FLORIS trips", company celebrations and other events, we strengthen the cohesion and togetherness of our employees - the basis for good work.
- We live appreciation. We offer our employees free, fresh lunches, flexible working hours where possible and additional incentives such as bonuses. We also show our appreciation for their work through small gifts in everyday office life.
- We are socially committed. We support individual projects, clubs and events with regular sponsorships and donations. As a member of various associations and clubs, we are also involved in the event and catering industry and in our region - for its preservation and for its importance. Continue to support people and their development! Social goals and visions at FLORIS:
- Remain an attractive trainer. We want to keep the apprenticeship profession attractive despite the declining overall interest and to inspire young people to join the industry. The number of apprentices in our company should be maintained.
- Create more time and focus on the individual development of our employees. We want to increase the range of external and internal training and further education available to our employees and thereby create more opportunities to promote their individual strengths and interests. At FLORIS, every employee should be able to develop and realise their potential to the best of their ability!
- Increase donations and sponsorships. In the long term, we want to steadily increase our social contribution from donations and sponsorships through broader cooperation with projects and associations.
Business
FLORIS assumes economic responsibility because we understand that the company cannot exist sustainably without economic security. Here we have a responsibility to act with moderate growth and manageable risk.
With these measures, FLORIS is making a significant contribution to the growth and stabilization of our economy:
- Sustainable complaint management. We take internal and external complaints particularly seriously and practice active complaint management. Through an internal feedback form for all departments and individual analyses, we are constantly optimizing our processes and products - the basis for ensuring and continuously developing our quality management.
- Active corporate communication. We maintain active corporate communication through regular discussions with our most important stakeholders such as employees, suppliers and customers. This allows needs, wishes or problems to be identified and dealt with at an early stage and ensures good cooperation.
- Active risk management. FLORIS works on the basis of an individual risk concept. We use risk factors and risk levels to stabilize our business and the company's economic responsibility.
- We are a driving force for innovation. By developing original products and new event concepts, we are constantly advancing the event and catering industry.
- Transparent cost management. From the offer to the final invoice, we have detailed cost calculations, follow-up calculations, margin agreements and value creation processes - and thus offer our customers and service providers full transparency and planning security.
- A conscious supply and value chain. We ask our suppliers about ecological, ethical and social aspects and require them to comply with applicable laws. In addition, we compare the criteria asked of the suppliers and select those that are particularly sustainable where possible. As a company, FLORIS has also committed itself to continuing to make the supply and value chain as sustainable as possible.

- Source from the most sustainable suppliers. We check suppliers for ecological, social and ethical aspects – in the long term, we want to use broader surveys to source the best suppliers in terms of sustainability.
- Develop the best products and event concepts. We want to further develop our working groups and use the creativity of our employees to develop the latest ideas and individualize ourselves even more.
Companies and ethical responsibility
FLORIS assumes ethical responsibility in its actions as a company with its management. Here we have a responsibility to act respectfully as a role model and to communicate clearly. We ensure that this responsibility is handled responsibly.
